Nestled within the stone streets of the old village of Visan in the charming Enclave des Papes, La Perroya is a beautifully restored village house offering four exquisite guest rooms in the heart of Provence. Located in an often-overlooked pocket of the Drôme Provençale between Vaison‑la‑Romaine, Nyons, and Grignan, the house exudes serenity and authentic regional character.
Each of the four generously sized rooms—two double rooms, one suite, and a third double—occupies the first or second floor, with views overlooking the quiet church square or the shaded inner courtyard. Every room carries a unique decorative theme brought to life with keen attention to detail by the host, Agathe, drawing on treasures gathered from her travels.
Mornings at La Perroya are a delight: breakfast is served in the cool courtyard beside a saltwater basin, sheltered beneath a mulberry-platanes tree, or during cooler weather, in the warmly inviting lounge with its fireplace and library. Light cushions upon long conversations and gentle light cascading through tall windows, accompanied by locally-sourced treats that capture the region’s flavors.
The house offers welcoming communal spaces for relaxation. A shaded courtyard with a saltwater basin invites cooling dips, and a footbridge from the first floor leads to a generous sun terrace—perfect for sipping evening drinks and watching fiery Provençal sunsets over the Rhône Valley, curled in a chaise longue.
La Perroya’s location is exceptional for exploring. It’s an excellent base for discovering the surrounding architecture and vineyards, wandering nearby historic villages, touring local wineries, or visiting iconic regional destinations like Grignan or Vaison‑la‑Romaine. On request, Agathe can also arrange apéritif-dînatoire experiences or intimate table d’hôtes gatherings featuring local products and natural wines.
From Lyon-educated interior architect to charming host, Agathe Perroy has transformed La Perroya into a thoughtful sanctuary. The lovingly curated décor—an artful blend of family heirlooms, found objects from her years of scouring Africa, India, Brazil, and treasured antiques—reflects her refined eye and reverence for place. Welcoming guests since summer 2021, she has created an atmosphere that spans generations, memories, and soulful design.
