THE SETTING

Jonojé is a six-suite design guesthouse in Bruges, created by Studio LOHO inside a former brush factory close to the historic centre. It sits slightly away from the busiest part of the city, which is exactly what makes it work: canals, museums, restaurants and the old streets of Bruges are within easy reach, but the atmosphere at the house is quiet, private and deeply considered.

Jonojé also serves as showroom, gallery, living space, and creative world for Studio LOHO, known for tactile interiors and sculptural materials. Staying here is more like stepping into the studio’s vision than a typical hotel.

The building has been restored with a strong sense of restraint. Natural plaster, clay, ceramics, soft textiles, handmade details and generous volumes set the tone. Nothing feels glossy or overdesigned. The luxury is in the scale of the suites, the silence, the quality of the materials and the feeling that every surface has been touched by someone with a clear eye.

THE FOOD

Breakfast is served in your suite to fit the spirit of the place. No breakfast room or buffet—just a quiet morning. Order in advance or on arrival; the team brings it between 9 and 10 am. The selection comprises only homemade products: sourdough bread, whipped butter, chia pudding, homemade jam, Belgian chocolate spread, cheese, coffee, tea, and fresh juice. It feels simple in the right way — not trying to impress with too many options, but focused on good products.

THE STAY

Jonojé is built around independence. Check-in is simple, with key-code access and no formal hotel desk. Before arrival, guests receive a digital guide designed to help with practical details, local recommendations and getting around Bruges. If something is needed during the stay, the team can be reached through a connected webchat.

A small number of Petit Porteur bicycles are available to rent, with front carriers and locks, making it easy to explore Bruges without relying on taxis or long walks. On-site parking can also be reserved in advance, and EV charging stations are available for guests arriving by electric car.

AROUND JONOJÉ

With a bike, Bruges opens up nicely. You can move between the old centre, quieter residential streets, green corners and canals without turning the stay into a checklist. The Markt, Burg Square, the Groeningemuseum, the Beguinage and the city’s smaller galleries and design shops can all shape a slow Bruges weekend.

Food is also part of the reason to stay here. Bruges has much more than chocolate shops and tourist restaurants, and Jonojé’s local guide helps with better addresses for coffee, lunch, dinner and drinks. Cantine Copine, close to the guesthouse, is a good example of the kind of place that makes the location feel local rather than remote.

For a longer stay, the Belgian coast, Damme and Ghent can also be added to the trip, but Jonojé works best when you give Bruges enough time and avoid rushing through it.

THE OWNERS

Jonojé is the hospitality project of Jo, founder of Studio LOHO, and Esther. It naturally follows from their work in interiors, objects, and materials. Guests are not just looking at the studio’s work — they are living inside it for a few days. The hospitality is discreet and modern: no unnecessary fuss, no over-service, but thoughtful systems that make the stay smooth. It feels very much like a designer’s home opened to guests, with enough privacy to make it your own.

GOOD TO KNOW

Jonojé is best suited to adults, couples, solo travellers or design-minded guests looking for space, privacy and independence in Bruges. Check-in starts at 3 pm, and guests receive a key code for access. On-site parking is available and should be reserved in advance. EV charging stations are available. Rates usually start from around €180 per night, depending on the season, suite and booking conditions.
