Sénéjac is well-placed to explore the Médoc without being too far from Bordeaux. The château is at the beginning of the Route des Châteaux, making it a useful first stop before continuing towards Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, or Saint-Estèphe.
Bordeaux is less than thirty minutes away, so guests can easily spend part of the day in the city: the old centre, the quays, the Cité du Vin, restaurants, shops and museums. This makes Sénéjac a good choice for travellers who want both wine country and Bordeaux without changing hotels.
The wider Médoc is made for slow driving: vineyard roads, cellar doors, famous names, smaller estates, gravel soils, villages and long lines of vines. The Atlantic coast and Arcachon Bay are also possible for a longer day out, especially for guests staying more than one night.
The best rhythm is probably simple: one day for Bordeaux, one day for the Médoc, and enough time at Sénéjac to remember you are staying on a working wine estate.
