THE SETTING

Corte Pravecchio sits in the green hills of Valeggio sul Mincio, in Veneto, close to Lake Garda but away from its busier rhythm. The last stretch already says a lot: country roads, vineyards, open fields, and then a small farm hotel that feels hidden in plain sight.

The property opened in spring 2025 after Mia and Ivan transformed an old rural complex into a small, design-led agriturismo. At its centre is an 18th-century family home, surrounded by traditional farm buildings and a new guesthouse created from what had once been a stable, a barn, and a smallholding.

The landscape is part of the identity. Corte Pravecchio sits on a moraine hill, with vineyards, trees, meadows, two natural lakes and the Mincio Valley around it. It is not dramatic in an obvious way. Its beauty is softer: grass underfoot in the morning, birds at sunset, water reflecting the sky, and the feeling that nothing needs to happen too quickly.

The architecture and interiors bring together different influences. The bones are Italian and agricultural, but the mood is clean, quiet and almost Nordic. Natural materials such as hemp bricks, lime and local oak give the new spaces a sustainable and tactile quality, while carefully chosen furniture and soft muted tones keep everything calm and contemporary.

THE ROOMS

There are six suites at Corte Pravecchio, all designed for two guests and set in the new guesthouse building. Each one has its own private terrace and garden. The rooms are spacious, ranging from 50 to 75 m² depending on category.

Inside, the style is refined but relaxed. The design was developed in collaboration with RURALURBAN, with Nordic influences and pieces from brands such as Carl Hansen & Søn, Muuto and Ferm. But the result does not feel like a showroom. The rooms stay soft, simple and connected to the outdoors.

THE FOOD

Breakfast at Corte Pravecchio is made for late risers (served until noon). It is sweet and savoury, made with farm-fresh ingredients and local specialities, and served until noon. Guests can have it at the shared breakfast table, order it to the room for an extra charge, or take it in a picnic-basket spirit depending on the moment.

Food becomes more social in the evening. Three times a week, Corte Pravecchio hosts tavolata dinners: shared-table evenings with local dishes, wine, conversation and the kind of atmosphere that makes a small stay feel alive.

There is also the possibility of picnic baskets, created with regional specialities, for guests who want to eat among the vines or take something with them for the day. The food story here is not about fine dining. It is about simple pleasure, local produce, wine, and the feeling of being gathered around a table in the countryside.

THE STAY

The stay at Corte Pravecchio is built around doing very little, beautifully. There is an outdoor pool, two natural lakes, a sauna, hidden corners in the garden, meadows, vineyards and plenty of space to sit, read, walk or simply disappear for a while.

For guests who want a little more structure, yoga sessions and massages can be arranged on request. E-bikes can also be organised through a local provider, making it easy to explore the surrounding countryside without needing to plan too much.

Corte Pravecchio is not a place overloaded with facilities, and that is part of its charm. The luxury is in the rhythm: late breakfast, pool time, a walk through the vineyards, a picnic, a tavolata dinner, then the quiet of a private terrace at night.

AROUND CORTE PRAVECCHIO

The location works especially well because it offers guests both the calm of the countryside and easy access to some of Northern Italy’s most iconic places. Valeggio sul Mincio is close by, and Borghetto — the beautiful old mill village on the river — is around 6 km away. It is one of the most atmospheric small villages in the area, with stone bridges, watermills and the slow movement of the Mincio.

Parco Giardino Sigurtà is also nearby, around 6.8 km from the property, and makes an easy visit for gardens, walks and cycling. Peschiera del Garda is about 10 minutes away by car, bringing Lake Garda within very easy reach, while Lazise is around 20 minutes away.

Verona is around 29 km away, Mantua around 31 km, making Corte Pravecchio a strong base for travellers who want a mix of countryside, lakeside towns, art cities, wine bars, markets and trattorias. The surrounding area is also good for cycling, gentle walks and wine visits. It is not the wildest part of Italy, but it is one of those landscapes that works beautifully for slow travel: villages, vineyards, lake air, river paths and long lunches.

THE OWNERS

Corte Pravecchio is the project of Mia and Ivan, who come from South Tyrol and bring a very particular mix of warmth, precision and rural instinct to the place. Their backgrounds in agriculture, hospitality and project management helped shape the property into something that feels both grounded and carefully thought through.

Mia and Ivan are present in the experience without making it feel forced. Their idea of hospitality is simple but clear: a farm stay should feel authentic and relaxed, but still beautifully comfortable. They want guests to slow down, share good evenings, enjoy the small details and rediscover the pleasure of having nothing urgent to do.

GOOD TO KNOW

There are six suites, all with a private terrace and garden. There is no on-site restaurant. Tavolata dinners are usually offered three times a week and should be reserved in advance.

Check-in is from 15:00, and check-out is by 10:00. Pets are welcome in two designated rooms for an additional fee.

Prices start at €260 per night for two people, depending on the suite category and season.
