THE SETTING

Llucasaldent Gran sits between Alaior and Son Bou, in the middle of Menorca. The position works beautifully for the island: quiet countryside, easy drives in every direction, and the south coast close enough for a beach morning. The finca spans more than 100 hectares, with vineyards, olive trees, cereal fields, vegetable gardens, animals, and old agricultural corners still visible throughout the estate. It has the rhythm of a Menorcan farm, with hotel comfort added carefully around it.

From different parts of the property, the view opens across dry-stone walls, fields, olive trees and the sea in the distance. Son Bou is nearby, yet the house stays in its own rural pocket, away from the beach-resort feeling. The buildings keep the island’s language: white walls, terracotta roofs, shaded terraces, stone, cane, olive wood and simple outdoor spaces made for hot days. Guests arrive in Menorca and often end up spending more time than planned on the finca itself.

THE ROOMS

There are 12 rooms at Llucasaldent Gran, divided into superior rooms, suites, and deluxe suites. All are adults-only. The rooms follow the same quiet Menorcan mood as the rest of the finca: pale walls, natural colours, good beds, soft light and private terraces facing the countryside. Some sit close to the pool, others feel more tucked away among the gardens and farm buildings.

Each room opens onto its own shaded terrace, with outdoor furniture and traditional Menorcan entrances made from olive wood from the farm. It gives guests a private place for coffee, reading, wet towels after the pool, or the quiet hour before dinner.

THE FOOD

Breakfast is served in the main building and on the terrace. The farm finds its way onto the table: fruit and vegetables from the garden when in season, eggs from the free-range chickens, Menorcan cheeses, sobrasada, local pastries, fresh bread, homemade yoghurt, cereals, coffee and tea.

For lunch, guests can order simple dishes through room service, made with fresh local products. Picnic backpacks can be prepared for the beach or countryside, and barbecue packs are also available for the outdoor area.

Dinner is served at the estate restaurant from Monday to Saturday. Chef Paco González works with seasonal produce, local ingredients, and farm products when available. The menu is à la carte, with a tasting menu as well. After a day outside, dinner on the finca feels like the natural way to end the day.

THE STAY

Llucasaldent Gran is made for outdoor living. The main terrace has several corners: tables for meals, a chill-out area, a barbecue and picnic space, and a small wooden bar.
The pool uses restored old drinking troughs as part of its water feature, before the water runs down into the infinity pool. It feels connected to the farm, with open views and enough space around it for a long, unhurried afternoon.

Guests can walk through the estate, past vines, olive groves, animals, old farm tools and threshing areas kept on the property. An honesty bar keeps drinks easy during the day, and the team can take guests around the finca in an electric vehicle.

Depending on the season, the hotel organises small experiences such as yoga, creative workshops or wellness treatments. The best use of the place remains simple: breakfast, swim, a walk through the finca, a few hours at the beach, then dinner back at the farm.

AROUND LLUCASALDENT GRAN

Son Bou is the closest major beach and one of the most useful reasons to stay here. It is the longest beach in Menorca, a wide stretch of sand on the south coast, with dunes and enough space to choose your own rhythm.

Alaior is close too, with shops, cafés and local life beyond the beaches. From Llucasaldent Gran, it is easy to drive towards Mahón, Es Mercadal, Ciutadella or the smaller coves on both sides of the island. The central location works especially well for Menorca. The island is small, but beach days depend on wind, weather and mood. From here, guests can move between south-coast sand, north-coast wilder coves, inland villages and evening dinners without feeling locked into one corner.

For travellers who want more than beach time, the Camí de Cavalls, prehistoric sites, cheese farms, markets and the island’s quieter rural roads are all part of the stay.

THE OWNERS

Cristina and Germán run Llucasaldent Gran with their team. The welcome is practical and personal: a farm map, restaurant bookings, local advice, small requests, and someone nearby when guests need help.

Cristina brings a strong knowledge of Menorca, shaped by her background as an official guide on the island. Germán comes from the restaurant world. He brought chef Paco González into the project, giving the restaurant a more serious place within the finca. Together, they give Llucasaldent Gran its direction: island knowledge, restaurant experience, and a close daily presence in a working Menorcan estate.

GOOD TO KNOW

There are twelve rooms at the adults-only agroturismo. Breakfast is included. Lunch can be ordered through room service, and picnic or barbecue packs can be arranged. The restaurant is open for dinner from Monday to Saturday, from 19:30 to 22:30.

Son Bou Beach is a short drive away. Mahón Airport is around 20 minutes away by car. A car is strongly recommended for exploring the island.

Prices vary strongly by season. High-season prices start at around €490 per night for a double, with lower rates possible outside peak summer.
