Trullo Matteo is a full rental property in Puglia, set deep in the olive groves of the Valle d’Itria, a few kilometres from Ostuni. Hidden on a 1.4-hectare plot, it offers a mix of true Apulian character and full-villa comfort: peaceful, secluded days at home, then easy drives to whitewashed hill towns, local trattorias, and the coast when you’re ready to move. On the map, you’re close to everything that makes this part of southern Italy so addictive—yet on site, it feels like your own world of stone, light, and Mediterranean air.
Trullo Matteo sleeps up to 10 guests across five separate bedrooms with five private bathrooms, spread between a traditional trullo (with its iconic conical roof) and an elegantly restored lamia, the region’s classic rural building. The villa totals around 200 m², and the layout is designed for togetherness without living on top of each other, with an indoor-outdoor flow that naturally pulls everyone toward the terraces and pool.
The House has a fully equipped open kitchen and a dining space made for long breakfasts with market produce—fresh fruit, local bread, burrata, tomatoes, and whatever you’ve picked up the day before. The setting does the rest: sunlight through the olive trees, slow coffee, and that feeling that nobody needs to check a schedule.
The centrepiece is the private saltwater pool, with a garden shower, sun loungers, and open views over the olive grove—exactly what you want in a Puglian summer. Two terraces extend the living space outdoors, with both shaded and open areas for lunches, naps, and evenings that start with an apéritif and end up becoming dinner.Â
Trullo Matteo is made for exploring the best of Valle d’Itria: day trips to Ostuni, Cisternino, Locorotondo, and Martina Franca, plus the classic trulli town of Alberobello. The Adriatic coast is roughly half an hour away, while the Ionian side takes closer to fifty minutes. If you want something more local, the region is known for olive oil tastings, wineries, and food-led detours, and the area lends itself well to guided experiences like cooking lessons and e-bike excursions through the countryside.
The House feels like a place created by people who love Puglia enough to do it properly: preserving the heritage architecture while upgrading the villa into a genuinely comfortable home. Sylvie, the French host, owns it, and “Matteo” is a nod to her son—adding a personal, family story to the house. The result is an Apulian home that’s full of character, but designed for real holidays: space, privacy, and a setting you’ll want to return to after every outing.
