Casa Talía
MODICA – ITALY

Casa Talía is a dreamy boutique hotel in the Baroque heart of Modica, Sicily—a cluster of stone townhouses lovingly restored into a boutique slow-living retreat. The idea of “Talía” comes from the Sicilian for “look, admire,” and as soon as you wander through the garden gate and glimpse the layered rooftops and church steeples, you’ll know why.
Each of the eight suites and rooms at Casa Talía is unique: part old Modica home, part design-forward boutique space. Some sit in former cave dwellings, others in small townhouses fronted by stone walls—yet all are connected by winding paths and a Mediterranean garden that feels like the flowering heart of the property.
The atmosphere inside is warm, artistic, and quiet: rooms are furnished with a mix of local materials (stone walls, terracotta or original Sicilian tile floors, bamboo ceilings) and beautifully chosen vintage or handcrafted furniture—and then softened with modern comforts. All rooms have private entrances from the garden, terraces, or balconies with sweeping views of Modica’s rooftops.Breakfast is served in the shaded garden or courtyard, under olive and pomegranate trees, and often feels like the start of a slow Sicilian morning. You might sip strong espresso as the light creeps over the cathedral dome, or nibble fresh bread and pastries in the shade while the air warms.
When it comes to facilities, Casa Talía focuses on simplicity and comfort. There’s a lush garden that ties everything together, a rooftop terrace offering panoramic views of Modica’s baroque skyline, and a pool for cooling off in summer. If you want to explore, Casa Talía is a fantastic base. You can wander Modica’s steep, winding streets with its chocolate shops and hilltop cathedrals, explore nearby baroque towns like Ragusa or Noto, or head to the nearby coastline and Sicilian nature reserves.
Behind the project are Viviana and Marco, a Milanese architect couple who fell in love with Modica and decided to create something quietly beautiful and wise. They’ve kept the original fabric of the houses, introduced thoughtful restorations with natural materials, and infused every corner with a sense of calm and generous hospitality that feels less hotel, more your “home in Sicily.”
