Born from volcanic activity millions of years ago, nature and human endeavor have shaped these remote islands. The Azores are a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, with opportunities for hiking, whale watching, and exploring untouched wilderness.

eat & drink

The cuisine of the Azores is a celebration of the sea and the land. Fresh fish and seafood are abundant, with dishes like lapas (limpets) and cracas (barnacles) showcasing the islanders’ connection to the ocean. Carnivores can indulge in cozido das furnas, a traditional meat stew cooked underground using volcanic heat. Wash it all down with a glass of local wine or a sip of the island’s famous passion fruit liqueur.
