So close and yet so different! Among the Balearic Islands, Menorca is the one that chooses sustainable tourism. Perfect for couples to enjoy the sun and crystal-clear beaches. Before being delimited by seven lighthouses, its rugged northern coast, and tramontana storms caused shipwrecks. In total, it has 200 km of coastline!
Bathed by the Mediterranean, the entire island is a Biosphere Reserve. It’s also an open-air museum where over 1,500 sites of Talayotic culture are preserved, whose decline coincided with the commercial and strategic interests of Greeks, Phoenicians, and Carthaginians.
Self-sufficiency on an island is fundamental. With excellent and varied local products (kilometer 0), it earned the title of European Gastronomic Region in 2022. Here, everything is made following tradition, with Mahonese sauce and Mahón cheese being the essence of the island.
“Sobrasada” is the quintessential cold cut, combined with Menorcan honey, creating a delicious mix of sweet and salty. Ancient fishing and saffron cultivation complete the menu. Grapes grace the table with their designation of origin wines. The fascination with gin remains from English culture, which is also distilled here. And from the French and the Arabs, the love for pastry is evident in their bakeries.
The route of the seven lighthouses is a challenge to discover Menorca, from north to south and from west to east. Our favorite is the Favàritx Lighthouse. Within the Natural Park of s’Albufera des Grau, the black rock ground battles against the backdrop of the sky and the sea. Watching the sunset from Mount Toro will be one of the best of your life.
Bordering the island by kayak is an excellent way to complete the challenge. Its crystal-clear waters and caves are a natural spectacle of Menorca. Are you brave enough to dive here?
The Camí de Cavalls, to be done on horseback, by bike, or on foot, are rugged trails that run through the wild nature of the coast.

The first swim of the year can be in Menorca during spring. Summer is the paradise of coves. Perhaps too touristy? Autumn invites you to active tourism and savor the remaining warmth. In winter, everything is calmer except the sea.
Fly to Mahón with layovers in Madrid, Barcelona, London, or Mallorca. Or by boat to one of its ports. To get around Menorca, you can rent a car or use a bike for your travels if you’re into extreme sports.
